MONTPELIER — A state Agriculture Agency publication proclaims that the “buy local movement” that Gov. Jim Douglas initiated in 2003 is stronger than ever.

Pollina Statement on Firings at IBM

The firings at IBM are especially painful because IBM workers are not organized and because my opponent has not helped Vermont prepare for shifts in the global and local economy.

An organized workforce would have been better prepared to protect their jobs and negotiate with management. Montpelier, Vermont — On the heels of Governor Douglas’ statewide campaign kickoff tour, Progressive gubernatorial candidate Anthony Pollina wrapped up a tour of his own.

Since Pollina formally entered the race three months ago, he says Vermonters have told him they want stricter enforcement of environmental laws, the clean up of Lake Champlain, investment in small, local businesses, an increase in public transportation, the creation of a local food supply and decreasing the state’s dependence on oil.
