Pollina Proposes Vermont Credit Card

Burlington, Vermont — Anthony Pollina says Vermont can raise revenue without raising taxes.
Monday morning, the Progressive candidate for Governor announced a plan for a Vermont Credit Card. A portion of every purchase made on the card would be invested in a fund to support agricultural and renewable energy projects in the state, similar to current Rewards Programs. Pollina calls it a win-win for all and says it will help strengthen Vermont’s economy.
“The Vermont card will do that by allowing Vermonters to invest in Vermont with every purchase they make. It will also be a card not just for Vermonters, it’s a card for those who love Vermont regardless of where they live. We talk a lot about visitors coming to Vermont and how great it is when they buy gas, go out to dinner, they buy something at a local store. Well, it will be even that much better when a piece of every one of those purchases stays in Vermont,” said Pollina.
Pollina says they are in discussions with local financial institutions and want to form a partnership with the one that offers the best rates, rewards and terms of conditions. In addition, Pollina wants to form a network of merchants to help negotiate for lower credit card processing fees for businesses.
