Pollina can move Vermont forward
Letter to the Editor:
Vermonters have a long history of direct involvement in the political process. Therefore, I am shocked at the recent animosity coming from the political establishment about Anthony Pollina’s candidacy for governor. Everyday Vermonters are becoming more and more disgusted with politics, but somehow commentaries still advocate “politics as usual.”
In Sen. Bill Doyle’s 2008 Town Meeting Survey, Vermonters expressed sparse support for the governor and the Legislature. The survey shows that only 42 percent of Vermonters think the governor is doing a good job and that only 41 percent of Vermonters think the Legislature is doing a good job. It is apparent Vermont needs to be steered in a new direction.Given the statistics from Sen. Doyle, the logical solution is to try something new. The governor in his rhetorical ivory tower repeatedly blames the Legislature. Meanwhile, the Legislature casts blame on the governor, all while Vermonters are left behind with rising health care, education and fuel costs.
Vermont is not stuck in neutral, but in reverse. Vermont needs new leadership that speaks with people and not at people. Vermont needs a leader to work with people on creating viable solutions, not insider political deals.
If you want a Vermont stuck in reverse, you can continue on the same path as prescribed by the commentaries, or you can choose the path less traveled. Anthony Pollina is the catalyst to move Vermont forward. Pollina is right on health care, right on agriculture and right on energy policy. Let us move Vermont forward again and become a leader and a beacon for real change by supporting Anthony Pollina for governor.
