Pollina is positive alternative to Douglas
Letter to the Editor:
I’ve heard it said more than once that Jim Douglas can’t be unseated in November — and I always wonder why anyone would believe that notion. Sure, I hear he can tell a joke and we all know he wields a mean pair of scissors on those ribbons. But doesn’t the governor of Vermont require more talents than joke-telling and ribbon cutting?
In what areas has Jim Douglas provided real leadership? Civil rights? Health care? Environmental concerns? Rebuilding our infrastructure? Investing in Vermont to help relieve the economic downturn?
Douglas is nothing more than a career politician who has had an easy ride because he’s seen as a “friendly guy.”
Fortunately, there is a great alternative to Mr. Douglas — Anthony Pollina. Anthony has actually worked in the private sectors, so he knows what it is like to eke out a living, like the rest of us “working stiffs.” He has a vision for Vermont that compels us to believe that we actually can make needed changes, contrary to Douglas’ “can’t do” mantra.
Anthony has been a model of courage and leadership for dairy farmers in Vermont for many years. He has some wonderful ideas for investing in the state that could actually work for us.
It is long past time to replace our present governor with one who has energy, vision and real leadership qualities. Pleas join me (and many other Vermonters) in supporting Anthony Pollina for governor. We can’t afford Jim Douglas and his “business as usual” policies any longer.
