Backing Pollina for governor

Letter to the Editor:

Our Republican governor promises to continue to run down social services and job training. He claims we cannot afford such.

He makes green noises, but he opposes wind power.

He would cap public education spending. The main reason it keeps going up is higher health insurance. This Republicrat derailed a significant improvement passed by the Vermont House a couple of years ago. Insurance corporations love him. He spends more on jails than on higher education.

Unfortunately, the Demicans in the Legislature have adopted the governor’s budget nonsense. They backed off asking the very wealthy to pay a reasonable amount. Workers pay income tax on all their income; but 40 percent of unearned capital gains income will remain tax-free due to collaborators.

Vermont deserves better. Support progressive leadership. Support Anthony Pollina for governor.
